Caring for your Skin: Back To Basics(I)

Caring for your Skin is very important. Do you know that your skin is the largest body organ you possess? It is a tough, flexible and sophisticated envelope for your entire inner body, providing protection, thermal regulation and more.

This is a shield and your first line of defense against the outside world, protecting against natural elements and a physical defense against chemicals and pathogens in the environment. The skin carries a lot of responsibility and though it is best to look after it naturally, you could also offer some external help.

If like us, you understand how essential caring for your skin is, then you will know that having a healthy, glowing and supple skin is a psychological booster. Daily skin care habits

According to Warren Buffets, “Chains of habits are too light to be felt they are too heavy to be broken.

So, what is your daily Skin care habit like? If you are keen on caring for your skin, the first step is to pay attention to your environment. The environment we live in plays a role in determining how we address our skin. Those living in harsh environments may need to pay extra attention to their skincare. These includes

  • Extreme climate areas- hot , cold, very humid or dry.
  • Office spaces with inadequate air circulation leading to over-dry air
  • Industrial and agricultural environments, adds dust and chemicals to the air.
  • Sunbathing or continuous exposure to the sun without any form of skin protection.

We all experience some form of environmental damage everyday so it is highly important we take daily steps to restore the skin as best as possible and make it ready for any damage we might encounter. This requires investing in a number of skin care products. In order not to get too overwhelmed, there are a few factors to consider when researching into skincare products to buy

  1. Quality ingredients and your skin type
  2. Compatibility with products you already own. (To avoid ingredients conflicts and skin irritation)
  3. A skin care specialist if you’re still unsure of what products is best for you.
The most expensive products aren’t always the best.
