Leg & Facial Veins

The specific cause of thread veins is unknown although they may be caused by a variety of factors such as changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes, alcohol, prolonged standing/sitting or there could be a genetic component (inheritance). One or a combination of the following methods can clear unwanted and unsightly veins:

  • Lasers

Particularly the NdYAG laser system, through its affinity for hemoglobin (a pigment in red blood cells), and by the process of photothermolysis, can be used to effectively treat spider veins or telangiectasia (thread veins) on both the legs and face.

  • Sclerotherapy

A simple and non-surgical treatment that involves injecting a solution into the veins, usually superficial veins on the body and legs causing them to collapse/shutdown and disappear over a period of time. The solution is gradually reabsorbed by the body. 1-5 treatments are usually adequate to achieve desired results, although in some instances, more than 5 treatments are required. Discomfort after the treatment is rare and you should be able to resume usual activities with our expert advice.
